Dealing with employees going through disciplinary action is complex even when everything goes smoothly. Unfortunately, with modern access to information, employees all too often will know their employment rights, the system and how to work it to their best advantage.

These training materials look at two of the biggest curve balls that employees can throw during serious disciplinary issues, cover how to deal with sickness absence during disciplinaries and what to do if the employee raises a grievance whilst you are working through the disciplinary process with them.

IN THIS MODULE:

  • A scenario based activity exploring how you deal with absence during the disciplinary process.
  • An activity based around a Tribunal case where, in pairs, delegates must consider what this case law means if someone raises a grievance during disciplinary action.

AIMS:

By the end of this module delegates will know how to handle absences and grievances that may arise during a disciplinary process.

TIME:

30 minutes.

GROUP SIZE:

Ideally 6-12 people. Training materials are re-usable for multiple training sessions.

USEFUL FOR:

Those with management responsibility or anyone that deals with disciplinaries and dismissals.
