About
These training materials will provide delegates with the essential skills to conduct successful appraisals, including effective questioning, active listening, objectively assessing performance and giving feedback.
IN THIS MODULE:
- A summary of the different types of questions and their uses.
- ‘Draw it’ – an activity where delegates must draw two pictures based on the images the trainer is holding, the catch is, they are not allowed to see the pictures, only ask questions about it. This is designed to highlight different outcomes when using open and closed questions and also to get delegates practising the type of questions they ask.
- A flipchart review on active listening.
- ‘Happy Birthday’ – an activity using percussion instruments (which can get loud!) to push delegates out of their comfort zones and demonstrates the importance of relationships and communication skills.
AIMS:
- Practice the key skills required for a successful appraisal.
- Discover the need for evidence-based feedback.
Time:
1 hour and 10 minutes.
